Ultrasound is an essential tool to all veterinary practices and is often necessary in emergency situations. It allows the veterinarian to have a look inside the body without surgery. Visualization in a live and frame-by-frame manner can provide a detailed assessment of organ structure and associated function.
At Coombs Veterinary Hospital we have state of the art 3D Ultrasound capability. Our machines are used for everything from F.A.S.T. scans ('Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma') to full abdominal ultrasounds. They are also an essential part of many more advanced diagnostics such as abdominocentesis or thoracocentesis (sampling within the abdomen or chest).
