March is...
parasite prevention month!

During the month of March, Coombs Vet Hospital is shining the light on the creepy crawlies that affect your pets' health.
Internal parasites can lead to weight loss, ill thrift, and even issues with systemic function. Most internal parasites are also Zoonotic, meaning that they can transfer to you! The route of transmission is fecal-oral, which means that they can be transferred when a puppy kisses your child's face, or you clean your cat's litterbox. As such, it is important to make sure your animals are up to date on internal parasite control. Your veterinarian can tell you how frequently to deworm based on your animal's lifestyle and risk factors (we usually recommend every 3-12 months).
External parasites are one of the most common causes of itch on Vancouver Island. Did you know that we have a problem with fleas and ticks year round?! These pesky parasites can also carry blood-borne diseases that may seriously affect the health of your pet.
For more information about internal and external parasites and how we recommend treating them, please see our Parasite Prevention page.
For the month of March Coombs Veterinary Hospital will be offering:
- 50% off fecal floats (testing for internal parasites)
- 10% off internal parasite control
- 10% off external parasite control
In order to pick-up internal and external parasite control products, your pets must be up to date on their annual health exam (meaning that we have seen them within the last 12 months). If we have not seen your pets in a while, and you would like to take advantage of this offer, please give us a call to book an appointment! |
